9 Panzer Division 1940-1943

The 9th Panzer Division was formed in January 1940 from the 4th Light Division. It took part in the Western campaigns, fighting in the Netherlands, Belgium, and France. It was then engaged in the Balkan campaign and in the southern sector of the front during the invasion of the USSR. The division also fought at Kursk and, in the autumn of 1943, on the Dnieper, where it suffered heavy losses.
