Andrzej Glass and Tomasz J. Kopański present the fourth volume of the Polish Aviation Designs series – September 1939, Part 1. It is the most comprehensive account of the fate of Polish aviation designs during the tragic events of September 1939, featuring a largely unpublished collection of photographs, the existence of which had until now remained only a matter of hope.

True gems from the extraordinary collection of Tomasz J. Kopański are revealed to the public for the first time. The concept of Andrzej Glass, supported by the knowledge and archives of Tomasz J. Kopański, allows readers to discover the real history of many dramatic events of those days. The iconographic material grew daily – the number of photographs exceeded one thousand, leading the authors to publish the book in two volumes.

Volume IV of PKL tells the story of the fate of Polish military and civil aircraft, as well as a few foreign designs, located at various airfields, including:

• the Naval Aviation Squadron (including unique, one-of-a-kind photographs of the Polish CANT Z.506B, showing its final moments on Lake Siemien)

• the airfields of Pomerania (Toruń, Bydgoszcz, Grudziądz)

• the airfields of Greater Poland (Poznań, Army “Poznań”)

• the airfields of the Łódź region (Widzew, Brzeziny, Army “Łódź”)

• the airfields of Mazovia (Okęcie, Mokotów, 1st Air Regiment Base)

• the Pursuit Brigade (P.11 Okrzei)

• the Bomber Brigade

• CWL 1 (Dęblin, Radom, Ułęże, Borowina)

• the airfields of the Kielce region (Kielce-Masłów)

The volume comprises about 250 pages and includes nearly 550 photographs, most of them never published before.
